An installation built on the repulsion between magnets

Four hundred objects, evenly spaced, each holding a magnet with its poles aligned the same way.

At rest they form a plane like water on a windless day. Set one object swinging and the objects push each other apart, and the movement travels outward as ripples, the way a stone dropped into water sends rings across the surface.
An iridescent pigment on their surfaces shifts in colour as they sway.
