I built a portfolio site with AI.
Apparently this way of building is called “vibe coding”.
Maybe don’t dress it up with a word like coding, though.
It felt less like designing a website and more like becoming the director and moving a designer around. Real thanks to Claude, the designer. Glad to be working together.
To make this technique part of my body and a proper partner, I want to take in a reasonable amount of information and run a lot of experiments to widen what is possible.
↓ The pixel car used for the favicon and the header (designed by Claude, of course). Tap it and something might happen.

On programming, though
At university I hit a wall doing programming for coursework. That now looks laughable — the range of what can be done is honestly hard to believe.
I have been connecting it to Blender and Figma and experimenting. Every day brings a surprise. For Blender alone, I think I have had five add-ons of my own built by now.
I never even finished Progate, and none of that matters any more: a site like this simply gets made. It is genuinely fun, and the fact that I now want to go back to Processing, which I gave up on back then, is a good thing in itself.
On AI, though
There is plenty to feel uneasy about with AI, but I want to face it slowly and carefully, stay positive, and believe that using it for creative work is fine as long as I think it through carefully myself.
This diary I intend to write entirely without AI, so my own writing doesn’t waste away. This entry too, of course. Though it already feels alarmingly out of shape 🥹
